[This is a travel note]
I have been interested in train-related activities since I was a child. After I had read the Furka steam railway itinerary introductions on the SBB website, I booked it with my credit card immediately.

I think this method is great because it is very convenient for me. And I just need to wait for the hotel confirmation letter and train tickets mailed by SBB. By the way, the tickets they provide can be used at any station closest to you and can end the trip at any time within a one-month period. For example, the photo below shows that my ticket is from "Wohnort / Domicile" to "Realp / Oberwald".
The distance from St. Gallen to Brig is not short, so I set off with my queen one day earlier. When we were transferring in Zurich, I bought our lunch at the restaurant inside the station. Then we enjoyed it very much on the next train.
The train arrived in Brig around 2pm. We went to the hotel to check in first because the hotel's location designated by SBB was quite close to the Brig station.
We talked with the receptionist in English at the beginning. But when she knew that we could speak German, she only answered us German. Completing the checkin, she smiled and chose room 44 for us. She might not know that most hotels and hospitals in Taiwan avoid using this number.
When I was in Brig and got out of the train, the high temperature surprised me a lot! Guess what the temperature was in the afternoon?
The answer was over 40 degrees celsius!

The Stockalper Palace was the largest private building in Switzerland in 1678. The local government is still operating here now and has been included in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National and Regional Significance.

The sun was still shining in the afternoon. We decided to take a train to the nearby area for strolling and hoped that other places would be cooler than Brig.
Switzerland has many convenient rail routes, even in the mountains. We chose to get off at Eggerberg station so as not to get too far from Brig. However, the temperature here was still high. Look! Passengers in front of us were wearing summer clothes.
Looking at the snow on the top of the mountain, it was hard to imagine that it was very hot here.
The town in the lower area is Visp. It is an important transfer location to access Zermatt.
We started strolling! It’s about 14 kilometers back to Brig from here.
My queen and I both like strolling because it makes us happy and enjoy the scenery along the way.
It was almost dinner time when we returned to Brig. We found a restaurant and sat down inside. Then we ordered the Appenzeller Bier first before looking at the menu.

This was my first time ordering in German. I was quite nervous, but the process went smoother than I thought. After ordering, the waitress gave me a compliment.
Although we did not follow the city guide, we are satisfied with today's trip. Then we also look forward to the Furka steam train journey tomorrow.
